Royal London Walk
“Royal London” Really enjoyable and informative walk with friendly and knowledgeable guide Hazel. Learned fascinating facts that made it very worthwhile.
“Fantastic - brings London to life ”
I have done a few of Hazel's walks: Wonders of Whitehall, Oliver Twist and Victorian Soho and Covent Garden. They are a fantastic way of learning more about the city, bring history to life and finding hidden gems that you wouldn't otherwise notice or appreciate.
Hazel is very friendly and has a great knowledge of London and is clearly passionate about what she does. I've enjoyed the tours so much that I am taking my parents on the Royal London walk when they visit.
"So interesting. Well organised and very informative. We took the back roads so it was refreshingly quiet. Will definitely book another tour. Fabulous way to spend an afternoon." Anon
"What a brilliant and entertaining way to spend a summer's evening in London! Think you know your English royal history? Think again. Hazel has a wealth of knowledge of facts and places that will surprise you.Put this guided walk on your to do list this year, you'll go home with a smile on your face." Anon
“Royal Frolics” Great short guided tour with loads packed into an hour, with a warm, witty and informed guide. You'll learn enough to impress your friends and to want to come back for more.
Heretics and Horrors Walking Tour
“Fascinating with excellent presentation”
I joined Hazel's 'Heretics and Horrors' 90 minute walking tour in the City of London, starting by St Paul's underground station. Hazel is a fantastic guide - she is knowledgeable and interesting with a very well delivered and researched walk. It was pitched perfectly and I will definitely be going on another of her walks. Whether you are a tourist or (like me) a life long Londoner you are sure to learn all sorts of fascinating facts! Do go!! It didn't cover much distance as there is plenty to learn in a very small area of London so don't worry if you can't walk far. An added bonus - my dog was made to feel very welcome!
“Heretics and Horrors of Smithfields ..wow what a evening !”
I spent bank holiday Saturday in the delightful company of Hazel our tour guide....this girl is a professional ...a fountain of knowledge/humour/fun.....she goes into role as an globe winning actress does.....we exercised our bodies by walking and our brain through knowledge...and our spirit through laughter/fun....whilst this area of London has got a rather bloodied past, Hazel made you understand the background /feelings poverty /lack of education that made this life they faced necessary...it certainly took my rose tinted glasses off and actually appreciated my life in modern day society more.....it was light hearted and fun though...it was suitable for younger and older couples and singles and a really beautiful labarododdle joined in called Nellie who had to put her paws around her ears when Hazel described the treatment of dogs during the plague....thank you Hazel you are numero uno.
“Heretics and Horrors of Smithfield”
Hazel has a great approach to her walks, and mixes fact, humour and thought-provoking comments throughout the tour. I've done two now, and I'll go back for more, as I've learnt a lot about two areas I have lived in. Perhaps she could have told us a bit more about Charterhouse, the killing of the monks, and also the plague pit that is there--though to be fair, perhaps this is worthy of an additional tour? The route of the walk is not arduous at all, and there's an ideal mix of walking, talking and standing and looking. I have to admit, I wish the walk had gone on for another hour, as I was enjoying it so much. Well done Hazel, and thank you!
“Amazing experience learning about London's Heretics and Horrors!”
We had such an amazing time with Hazel. Despite the rainy cold weather Hazel did an amazing job protecting us from the elements and providing us with fun and interesting information. She was on time, polite, informative, funny and very accommodating. Will definitely take another tour with her when I visit London again!
“Fantastic walks, with a hugely knowledgeable and entertaining guide”
Have now been on three of these walks with Hazel, and am hugely impressed. No matter the theme - and the three I've been on are Christmas Lights, Victorian Covent Garden, and Heretics & Horrors. Each time, she's led us off the beaten track and regaled us with stories I haven't heard before - and I've been on quite a few London walks. Not only that, but she does it with a sense of humour and a knack for entertaining. She has an encyclopedic knowledge, and an obvious love of history and of the city she knows so well. An absolute delight for anyone that also loves it.
“Heretics and Horrors of Smithfields”
As usual this was a brilliant walk with Hazel. Lots of historical information and very interesting places. This was my fourth guided walk with Hazel and it won't be my last.
“One of my favourite things in London!”
I moved to London almost 2 years ago and have gone on a number of walks led by Hazel, all of them fantastic! My favourite so far is the Heretics and Horrors walk, but all of them are informative, entertaining and a great way to learn about, and see, things in London, that aren't necessarily the top 10 tourist sites. Hazel holds a wealth of information and delivers it in a manner that keeps the group engaged. I look forward to the next one!

"Really fascinating way to spend an hour and a half in London. Hazel was a great guide, very informative and delivered her walk and talk beautifully. I will definitely be getting out on one of her walks again. Even though I have lived in London all my life, I learnt so much." Anon
"Great walking tour if you're looking for something to do for a couple of hours before dinner on a Saturday night. Tour guide was really good and was an interesting walk!" Anon
"Great time was had even in the rain! Really good information and little background stories making it seem like yesterday. Hazel has a genius for bringing it all to life!" Linda
"We took this walk around the city with Havel on Valentine's Day. She was absolutely brilliant, informative and entertaining - even though it was beyond freezing. She really managed to pique my imagination through her descriptions and made me love London even more if that is possible! So amazing to be able to do something fun and affordable on Valentine's Day. " Tara
"Another enjoyable walk with Hazel. I liked the idea of going macabre for Valentine's Day. As always the tour highlighted buildings and monuments that ordinarily are rushed past and vividly described their tormented past. My baby joined me in his pram and we are already signed up for our next outing with Hazel!"
“Well worth doing
I managed only one London walk due to time restraints but will make sure to do more next visit. The walk was through hidden lanes and gardens around Clerkenwell near St Paul's Cathedral. Our guide was very knowledgable and enthusiastic."
"We went on the Heretics & Horrors tour with Hazel and had a great time! Hazel possesses a world of knowledge about The City of London and made history come alive for us. She interacted very well with the children and even got a few replies out if my teenage son. Absolutely recommended!" Candi
Southwark Highlights & Lowlifes
"One of our favourite parts of London, it is so vibrant and full of history. I thought I knew this part of town quite well, having been on other tours and visits in the past 25 years or so. But we discovered that we had simply walked past historic sites without realising and found new statues/monuments that we didn't know about. A really interesting walk in a wonderful setting, highly recommended and particularly nice to do in the spring/summer, as it is close to the Thames. It felt like we had been taken on a little daytrip without having to leave our home city." Sarah & Tony Greaves
"It's amazing the things and places I've frequently walked past without realising their history. Hazel really opens your eyes with plenty of interesting facts and amusing stories. This walk was just an hour long and the time just flew by. A very pleasant summer evening." Anon
"Was a nice jaunt through London Bridge/ Southwark area. Good to see some familiar sights in the daylight and with the hustle and bustle. Definitely whets the appetite for other Southwark walks and to hear about London's bloody past, shenanigans, plots and despots. You leave realizing 1,000 years on, plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose." H Hazebrook
A real pleasant tour. I discovered lots of things I didn't know about this area of town. Highly recommended.
"Excellent guided walk . Guide very informative. Really enjoyed the walk. Will certainly be attending more. Guide interesting and very professional made the walk enjoyable with her knowledge and sense of humour. Thank you Azra"
"Hazel provided an informative and fun commentary(and well microphoned up) on a cold and windy night. Took us to some places that, although a lifelong Londoner, I had not been to before. I would recommend her walks." Laurie Goldsmith
"Lovely evening spent walking around some of London's landmark shops/ streets /arcades. It was interesting to see how attitudes to shopping has changed and yet the love of owning beautiful items has not changed. Some guides are well educated /well researched/ knowledgeable. Some guides are funny /witty /quirky charasmatic, but then occasionally some guides are all of the above and this would describe Hazel the lovely tour guide that does this walk." Marie Power
“A great storyteller and loads of anecdotes about old England”
"The walk started on time and the guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about the places we visited. She is very skilled in storytelling so that you feel compelled to listen to her!"
Haunted London Tour
What better way could there be of spending a chilly but dry early evening close to Halloween than to be part of a small group scuttling down side streets and darting through alleyways hunting for haunted sites! Hazel is a great story-teller and her enthusiasm kept us spellbound. Concetta Scalisi
Overall Hazel (the tour guide) was brilliant and explained the history of the various places very well with a lot of humour (always appreciated!). For this reason I highly recommended to take one of her tours. Hima Unarket
This was a great walk with a large town out of people. The organisor did a wonderful job hosting the walk and took us down some lovely hidden gems in Marylebone and Mayfair. A lovely evening out! I would recommend this and look forward to doing another walk soon! Linda Winder
Not only great ghost stories but being able to see old London's historic everyday buildings such as old inns and their connections with the supernatural tales....excellent walk.
“ Excellent ” Margaret Grundy
“ Loved it! Will definitely go again! And the paranormal site provided is a fantastic bonus! Thanks Hazel! ” SofyJane
"We didn't know this area at all, apart from a few visits in the past to St Leonard's church for Shakespeare plays, so had no idea about the sheer abundance of vibrant street art. A great walk and talk, which had us soon enthusiastically identifying various artists and their unique styles. It will certainly make us look at street art and graffiti in a different way. Another enjoyable and informative walk from Hazel in a quirky and dynamic part of town and highly recommended. After the walk we explored the area a bit more, looking at more art and stopping off for a meal (we spotted several nice looking places to eat or have drinks/cocktails)." Tony & Sarah Greaves
"I didn't realise there was so much to see" Catherine, Nice
"So much I would have missed seeing without Hazel." Bernadette
"Very interesting walk. I got to know Shoreditch a bit more. Love the street art. Could see myself hanging up lanterns in the area. Will definitely visit again to see more art. " Jacqui & Dominic Godfrey
"A wonderful informative walk with a great ranconteaur and historian, lots of interest for all levels. A real eyeopener. My 12 year old and a visiting friend loved this too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hazels tours and am keen to catch her others. Go if you can." DA, Paris
Hazel is very warm and friendly and clearly loves people. She's very knowledgeable and always on the look out for new street art to show us. She keeps a perfect balance between history and art. Highly recommended.
“Amazing storytelling, art in greatest City”
...Under which rock was I hiding? An evening spent with this storyteller and historian will have you appreciating Street Art, Street Artists and seeing big Corporates in a whole new way. You'll get to meet really interesting people (different walks of life, varied countries, different cultures) whilst getting a bit of exercise into the bargain. Way to go!
“Guide to the Street Art of Shoreditch”
Delightful way to spend a sunny evening weaving the streets and alley ways of Shoreditch in search of Street art in the jovial and enthusiastic company of Hazel, your knowledgeable guide! Maybe people taking photos slows it down but could have done with a more leisurely sourjourn to observe all the variety of art to see!
This was a really fun and informative evening walk. Hazel has obviously put a lot of work into researching and planning the walk and makes the whole experience highly entertaining and educational. Highly recommended!!
"Hazel's walks are always exceptional but this topped them all. THis is totally what guided walks are for: to find and see things you wouldn't otherwise. And with the background stories - amazing." Eva, Germany
"Delightful way to spend a sunny evening weaving the streets and alley ways of Shoreditch in search of Street art in the jovial and enthusiastic company of Hazel, your knowledgeable guide!" David B, London

"I loved it! It must be one of the most history dense miles of London!" Emma, London "Great! My first ever guided walk and I really enjoyed it rain an' all! Hazel is an excellent guide and it was marvellous" Dharshani, Harrow
"What a great thing to do on a Saturday afternoon. I found the walk to be the right amount of time - I have been on two hour London walks and I have to say that they felt too long. Hazel is enthusiastic, very knowledgeable, has a great personality and presents the information with humour. She encouraged questions and enjoyed interacting with the group which made the whole thing seem more personal. I only wish I had had time to join her and others for a drink at the end. I will certainly look out for future walks led by Hazel!"
"Hazel has wonderful knowledge and a real passion for history. The 90 minute tour was very informative, nicely explained and illustrated. During the walk the group came across a man who was minding his own business cleaning up a stash of clay pipes and broken bits of pottery which he had discovered. Added to the history. Blackfriars is one area that has greatly changed. It would be lovely to go back in time to see the old beauty as it was described by Hazel."
"Lovely walk around parts of Blackfriars you would most probably be unaware of plus loads of informative knowledge finished off with a G+T in lovely pub. Hazel enthusiastic as always. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon."
Fascinating walk, Hazel was super knowledgeable and we had a great time, will definitely do another of her walks in the future. As a Londoner I thought I knew it all, but she showed us a whole new side of a famous area, and just goes to show you never stop learning!
“Behind the scenes Blackfriars”
Knowing this part of London thanks to commutes through the brilliant new station, I was delighted to find clues to the history of the area revealed and explained by Hazel in a lively and engaging way. A couple of hours very well spent.
I recently went on the Black-friars Walk with Hazel as the guide. The walk was incredibly interesting. Hazel's leadership and the amount of information she imparted to the group was second to none. I will definitely be doing another walk with Hazel and would not hesitate to recommend her walks to others.
Lovely walk around Blackfriars with some really interesting stories about the area. Would recommend.
"Great walking tour - as ever and Hazel has updated the walk from last with new content and facts. Go it's lovely to walk around the river in the spring and to think about the derivation of the different districts and street names." Hazel H, East London
This is a 90 minute walk round a very historic part of the City of London. Hazel is a very well-informed and entertaining guide, and she reveals the hidden secrets of the City brilliantly. I am already planning to try another walk soon.
“Recommended walk around Blackfriars”
Hazel took us on a fascinating walk around Blackfriars showing, us amongst other things, the site of Baynards Castle, Wren churches & the only remaining part of the Blackfriars priory. She is incredibly well informed and this walk is highly recommended.
“A recommended walk around Blackfriars”
What a friendly guide Hazel is. This was the first of her walks I had been on and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought I knew the Blackfriars area but Hazel took us down side streets and alleys I'd never even noticed before! She has clear diction and a microphone so you can hear her above traffic, just as well as she is very informative and funny. Recommended
“Blackfriers 90 minute guided walk”
A friend invited me on this walk and, to be honest, it's not one I probably would have picked myself. However, it was a brilliant Saturday morning learning all manner of interesting facts about a very historic part of London I knew nothing about. Our wonderful guide Hazel could make anywhere interesting. She is an excellent orator, well researched and knowledgeable about her subject matter managing to get the balance between dry fact and amusing anecdote just right. I will definitely be walking with her again and would highly recommend her to everyone.
This was our first guided walk with Hazel and it was brilliant. Hazel has a sunny disposition, a good sense of humour and loves questions. Our tour was 90 minutes long and filled with a mixture of historical facts combined with an up-to-date general knowledge of the area and a sense of fun. we will definitely be joining Hazel for more of her trips in the future

“Best of Blackfriars”
"Blackfriars is an area of London that I've never really explored and knew was full of history. Hazel opened it up to me in 90 mins and I will be going back to re-explore some of the new places that she introduced our group of about 12 people to. She really knows her sites and history and is constantly adding to her knowledge and she makes people easy with each other. We finished with a drink at the interesting Blackfriars pub." Katrina P

"The route for this walk was a good one, taking in much of London's core history and some hidden delights. The best bit though, was the guide. “Blackfriars Walk - Absolutely Brilliant"
I went on the Blackfriars walk with Hazel and I have to say it was thoroughly brilliant. The time, which wasn't rushed, absolutely flew by and the amount of information I was able to recall and bend the ear of my family that evening was a testament to the excellent delivery of the guide. It's the first walk that I have done with London Guided Walks and I am already looking at other ones I am going to book up. It seems a number of people who were on my walk were regulars and never have I met a friendlier bunch of people to accompany. I can not recommend them more - A++

“Oliver Twist walk - great for adults and kids”
Took the Oliver Twist walk yesterday with my 10-year old daughter. It was a fab experience that we both enjoyed. Lots of historical facts, engagingly presented, made us really see and relive London as it was then. We'll definitely be doing this walk again.. and other walks offered by Hazel.
Hazel presents a combination of fascinating historic and contemporary information in an engagng and entertaining way. Have coffee with her afterward the walk for interesting discussions and ideas for getting the most out of your London visit. Thanks, Hazel.
I really enjoyed this walk. Hazel has a great knowledge of the book and London history of the period. She made the walk very interesting and I will be booking some of her other walks soon. Definitely worth going out on a cold February evening.
My friend and I very much enjoyed this tour and we learnt a great deal! It was the perfect way to spend a cold but sunny afternoon. Hazel was fab, thank you!
“Sadlers Wells and Oliver Twist Walks”
Most enjoyable, informative and concise. The 90 minute ambles were well worth going on. I thought I knew both of these areas well but almost every aspect of the tours provided me with new information presented in a fun, interesting and joined up way. I would not normally go on this type of walk but I strongly recommend this. Hazel is an excellent guide and has a wealth of relevant background information to supplement any query. i am going back to some of the other tours.
This was a great walking tour tracing part of Oliver Twist but was also a fascinating and eye opening look at Victorian London..Hazel our guide was clear, knowledgable and fun.
Such enthusiasm from our guide Hazel. Researched very well and she kept our interest right to the end. Made you want to reread Charles Dickens again. So many parts of darker London to see. Thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours with Hazel and a friendly group of walkers. Suitable for most of us.
“Angel to Farringdon with a Twist”
Hazel is an energetic, professional and well-informed guide, I've lived in the area of the tour for several years and have read a lot about the area, but Hazel brings a new "twist" with interesting anecdotes and little-known facts or stories. Structuring the tour around one of Dickens' most widely-known works is a clever way to provide context to the sites visited and to bring alive the Dickens tale. Highly recommended!
“Retrace the steps of Oliver Twist and the Artful Dodger!”
This was another fascinating walk from Hazel. She took us on a tour of the places mentioned in Oliver Twist, bringing it all to life with her descriptions of the sights, sounds & smells of Victorian London and quoting passages from the book. Highly recommended.

“Oliver Twist ~ Guided Walk. So interesting, so much fun!
My school friend and I were meeting for a catch up and fancied trying something different. I had attended The Hearts and Heretics Guided Walk with my husband on Valentine's Day and enjoyed it so much, so suggested we book The Oliver Twist one.
We met in The Angel on a beautifully sunny April afternoon. It was fun to hear about the area in Victorian times, places that seem quite inconsequential to us when we're trudging around with our daily lives often aren't, or weren't! I won't say what we learned as I urge you to try it, but it was so interesting and Hazel is so kind, friendly and descriptive that she really makes it all come alive! Because we were right where it had all taken place it was easy to get a good idea of the scale of what we were being told. We heard some very interesting little facts about the local area and Hazel offered a few recommendations along the way, which is always nice. I liked that it was based on Charles Dicken's Oliver Twist, it made a good basis of how those kind of character's lives may have played out.
Some of what we learned was very funny and some was just plain wonderfully weird!
Hearing about the struggles some people would have faced was quite sad. My friend and I were surprised that the issues Londoner's struggled with in Victorian times hasn't changed. People are still living in poverty, often in inadequate accommodation, children are still sometimes treated poorly when they don't have anyone. Immigration problems and the hurdles people face when moving into London are still pretty much the same. The huge class divide is ever present. I found it quite sad that in some ways we haven't made much progress since Victorian times ...
I really can't wait to book up for the Street Art In Shoreditch Guided Walk now. Hazel even took us all for a drink after. We told her that when we were at school we had a very mean history teacher so we both hated the subject. We're educating ourselves now! We both said we wished Hazel could have been our teacher!"
"Absolutely fascinating walk. Makes you see this part of London very differently. Having a reread of Oliver Twist now. Hazel is a fabulous guide and I would highly recommend!"
"We have done a few walks with Hazel now and each time she has us enthralled with her interesting stories of London. A well researched walk and will want you to read/reread Charles Dickens." Linda
"Thank you Hazel for a really fun and informative walk. My brother (slightly reluctant at first I must admit, but even he was won over..!) and I had a fab time. You are a great guide to the history of London and I am looking forward to attending my next walk with you!" Louise, Chelsea
"Excellent way to see where Oliver and the Artful Dodger walked on Oliver's entry to the capital. I was particularly pleased to see the 'Three Cripples' pub. ” Ian, Greenwich
"Hazel, you are a London gem and your knowledge, enthusiasm and energy is all wonderful. Thank you for a lovely tour. We'll be back for more....." Mary & Paul Raikes

"This was another fascinating walk from Hazel on a blustery, wet Easter Sunday. Highly recommended." Christine Bleathman

“Amazing storytelling, art in greatest City”
Hazel is such a London treasure. Why did I not discover her earlier? Under which rock was I hiding?
An evening spent with this storyteller and historian will have you appreciating Street Art, Street Artists and seeing big Corporates in a whole new way.
You'll get to meet really interesting people (different walks of life, varied countries, different cultures) whilst getting a bit of exercise into the bargain. Way to go!
Hazel is very warm and friendly and clearly loves people. She's very knowledgeable and always on the look out for new street art to show us. She keeps a perfect balance between history and art. Highly recommended.
Our guide dispensed knowledge charismatically and enthusiastically, keeping even some of her younger customers engaged. I took my 12 year old who is interested in photography and she came home buzzing with things shed learnt to tell the rest of our family. We also took a visiting friend from Spain along with us who said she thoroughly enjoyed the walk and will definitely be signing up for another.

Hazel was a well-informed and entertaining guide and in the course of this short but brisk walk we covered Islington's historic pubs, breweries and distilleries. We also covered in interesting detail some Hogarth drawings and had a short discussion on Hogarth's methodology. Varied and fun.

"I have done a few of Hazel's tours; she is always full of interesting facts and anecdotes. This walk does not have the grandeur of the City or the splendor of Hampstead but it was nonetheless brought to life with attention drawn to architecture and I particularly loved the tale of the peelers waiting for the ne'er do wells down an alley near to the end of the walk." Teresa

"A really lovely walk exploring the glories of Hampstead. Our guide was friendly and very informative. This is not a walk for the faint-hearted however, as it involves steep inclines, many stairs and some uneven terrain, but it was a most enjoyable exploration with some hidden gems. Just the thing to build up an appetite for lunch on a Sunday morning. If I had a small criticism it would be that we could have done with some more comfort stops. This required a level of endurance as well as reasonable fitness." Ian Joseph
"Fascinating walk through the highways and byways of Hampstead greatly enriched by Hazel who made the experience a delight and relevant to all of the group ,which with a span of age and nationality is an art in itself. It was so interesting to see Admirals House like a vast galleon and to hear the story of which memorable film character it inspired ..from winding alleyways to the grandest houses with tales of carriages and high society and of painters and mistresses contrasted with mossy woodland grove and churchyard and in complete contrast a sudden opening and view across to reveal the skyline of the City Hazel led us to the final place a truly magical garden with an extraordinary pergola to walk beneath with azaleas and waterlilies reflected in water..Brava Hazel ." Carol

Had a fantastic Dragon walk in honour of St George's Day. Very fun and informative. I'm still just getting to know the city and I now know some really interesting anecdotes and history, from The Great Fire to Old Tom. Knowledgeable and friendly guide. Would definitely recommend it and will be joining in on a treasure hunt in the near future.

“Fun Dragon Walk on 31st October (afternoon)”
Our small party of three adults joined this friendly guided tour. Hazel was well researched about the fascinating history of dragons in the City of London and further afield. The group wasn't too big like other guided tours, which meant we could all hear our guide and keep together as we walked about. We liked how Hazel created a relaxed and sociable environment, whilst educating us about the history of dragons and pointing out new places we could visit another time. There is an option to go to the pub afterwards, which is a nice idea if a person has come on their own.

"I have now been on a number of walks run by Hazel and have thoroughly enjoyed each one . Hazel is a welcoming and vivacious host and a qualified london guide . She researches all the material for the walks herself, therefore what you get is very individual with fascinating quirky titbits of info and plenty of fun and laughs. She encourages comments and questions throughout, does not talk at you and limits the group size so it is not overwhelming and you do not have to struggle to hear/ see .The whole experience is therefore more intimate. I Highly recommend. It is excellent value for money. If you're interested in learning a bit about amazing london and want a laugh in good company this is for you.” Sarah B, N London

“Victorian Covent Garden and Soho City Walk”
What a fascinating talk about the origins of some of the West End's most iconic landmarks such as Charing Cross. I've seen parts of Covent Garden that I didn't even know existed. Our guide, Hazel, was brilliant - very funny and entertaining. Her background knowledge is really impressive. The only downside was the weather but there's no controlling that! I would certainly recommend this walk. You will learn so much. I will never again walk past the bridge in Villiers Street without looking up and seeing a railway carriage! All will be explained on the tour!
Well worth venturing out on even the rainiest colder than usual nights. Hazel's knowledge, delivery and enthusiasm make this experience akin to an immersive art and architecture event. Stories and secrets of London are revealed and a new intimate relationship can begin with an expanded heart and brighter eyes. Bravo Hazel!
This is a wonderful tour! Hazel, our guide, was very personable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. As we walked through the lanes and alleyways of Covent Garden and Soho, she told delightful and entertaining stories of Victorian London. A truly unusual way to spend a rainy evening and I would thoroughly recommend it (whatever the weather!).
“Victorian Covent Garden and Soho, what a revelation!”
We thought we knew this area reasonably well, being Londoners and regulars in the West End for theatre trips and other entertainments. We were amazed at how many sights we have previously walked past without ever knowing the amazing and sometimes curious history. This tour taught us a lot about the incredible Victorians and their contribution to the everyday comforts we enjoy now. All presented in a friendly and entertaining style far removed from my memories of school history lessons (which I enjoyed, but this is much more fun!). Highly recommended, our 3rd tour with Hazel.

The pace of the walk was brisk but manageable (just perfect for the cold day). I learnt some new routes too. We will definitely go again."

We had a great time on a private tour of Westminster with Helen. Helen was fun and informative and managed to easily coral our, sometimes exuberant, group like an absolute pro!
Big thanks to Helen for doing the tour but also for being so easy to communicate with in the run up to the event and making excellent recommendations for meeting places and stops along the way."

""Although I worked right by this area for over 20 years it is amazing what I had missed, Hazel brought it to life with her enthusiastic knowledge and storytelling. A well experienced guide - she knows where to station her group to get give them the best view of any area without causing blocks at busy sites. The tour starts at Westminster Station and finishes near Trafalgar Square lasts about 90 mins covering the beginnings of Whitehall with Henry V111 up to modern day memorials. She also packed us off with ideas for more things to explore in the area once we left the group." Katrina P
"Hazel is knowledgeable and gives a fascinating insight into the history of the area." Pamela Kalman
"We really liked this one as it took us to the places that Londoners tend not to visit very often. Although a cold evening we wrapped up warm and listened to some fascinating historic tales from the welcoming guide. A friendly and fun way to spend 90 minutes, with the added benefits of a healthy stroll and some new learning for our ageing brains!" Sarah & Tony Greaves

Vivienne Lafferty 8-Feb-2016 I thought I knew this area of London well but I learned such a surprising amount from this walk. Hazel was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and more than just a superb guide. Her friendly personable manner encompassed everyone and made us all feel included. She used our names to give each person the sense that the tour was individual. An interesting and quirky way to explore London and discover narrow passages, hidden alleyways and lots of body parts! Great fun.
Jonathan Freeman 7-Feb-2016 "Hazel was great and made the walk a fun bit of trivia."
Hannelore Orthmann 3-Jan-2016 "Very informative and fun even though it was raining cats and dogs."
“A Nosey Round Soho” I was born close to the West End of London, spent my early childhood there and return frequently so I thought I knew this area well but I have learned such a surprising amount from this walk.
“A Nosey around Soho” "Rarely have I been so cold, rarely have I been so wet, rarely have I been so captivated; I failed to notice the other two until Hazel had wound up the walk. She has a style of her own and targets her content well." Bill, Bermondsey
"Even the lousy weather that wanted to hinder the quality at every turn did not manage to spoil the fun. Going on Hazel's walks is like joining a friendly, exciting and informative club. She remembers and greets every member that has attended her walks with a warm smile. A great day added to the memory lane of 2016. Thanks, Hazel." Jessie H, London
“Follow your nose!” "The 'Nosey around Soho' tour was a great 90 minute walk through Soho and its environ, with historical facts thrown in about the recent and past history and all events that defined the area. We're led around by our trusted and warm guide, Hazel, and the pace is brisk just how I like it. With a greedy thirst for knowledge I could have absorbed a few more facts but then we would have done less walking. Only dampener (excuse the pun) was the incessant rain but it's London in January, it's to be expected."
Catherine Bardrick "Fun and informative - even if you know London well this walk will take you to quirky corners off the beaten track with your very well informed and personable host Hazel - an enjoyable couple of hours - and we even managed to follow the England v Wales football score as we passed the Soho pubs!"
Anonymous "Hazel has a passion for her subject and a love of interacting with people. This combination ensures that her talks are both fascinating and fun. It was a great way to spend part of Saturday afternoon."
“a walk around Soho and covent Garden”
I have done a couple of these walks with Hazel and always find them entertaining and informative. I always discover something new even when Its an Area I think I know. I can recommend it.
Met Hazel at Covent Garden Station and the walk started in the adjoining street where she pointed out two plaster ears. She then showed us a quirky little alley way dating back to the 1700's.Then it was of to Admoralty Arch to start out search for the 7 nose's of Soho.Hazel was very informative, and I was especially happy that she had a microphone, unlike a lot of London walks.
To make a guided walk in the pouring rain interesting, fun and immensely enjoyable takes a special sort of guide. Hazel is certainly that sort of guide. Knowledgeably and with a quick sense of humour searching for noses (and other boy parts) around familiar London streets was a terrific start to the New Year. I would highly recommend her walks to anyone with curiosity.
"Hazel was great and made the walk a fun bit of trivia." Jonathan Freeman
So did I! And thanks to Hazel and her quirky, well researched trip round Soho last Sunday, I will take nothing for granted. Walls really DO have ears - and more!!

I would recommend this tour to everyone and I'm looking forward to going on many more." Miss Evans, Bessemer Grange Primary School
"I did this and the Blackfriars walk, and filled in a few more pieces of the wonderful jigsaw that is London. Hazel is a friendly and informative guide, who researches all sorts of extra bits and pieces to add to the staples you'd expect from these sorts of walks. I now know more about London's Xmas lights than I'll ever need to know, from the price of the best-selling bauble in Selfridges to the number of gold and silver balls hanging in Oxford Street. A great job at keeping a very mixed group entertained, including my grandson, who had a fantastic night out whooping and wowing his way around the sights and lights of London's west end. I definitely recommend Hazel as a guide and will be back for more." Steve Platt
"Hazel walked us the streets with beautiful Christmas light. We live in London and have worked in West end for many years but didn't know the existence of the gems we were introduced to tonight. "A glittering delight! What a lovely walk...beautiful sights. Thank you." Sarah B
The first was a brilliant Christmas Lights Walk which took us around Soho, Covent Garden & other notable West End locations and arcades and was simply stunning! Hazel told us the history of various locations and took us through a few interesting hidden back streets and alleyways around Soho that really enhanced the London Christmas experience. A totally fantastic way to spend a couple of hours on a crisp December Yuletide evening! Definitely a walk not to miss!
The second walk, a week later, was Hazel’s fascinating exploration of Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol taking in the East End financial district of London. Again lots of hidden locations, alleyways and recognisable Dickens landmarks with the highlight being the amazing Leadenhall Market, which was truly magical! Lots of Christmas Carol references and social historical observations that really (given a little imagination) took you back to Victorian London. It was brilliant just to lose one’s self for a couple of hours in the world of Charles Dickens… The walk came complete with a Humbug, but definitely not a ‘Bah! Humbug!’
Thank you Hazel, we had an absolutely brilliant time on both your walks and we shall be checking out your other walks planned for 2017 (with reviews to follow).
Southwark: Highlights and Lowlifes
