A Christmas Carol Walking Tour Reviews

This was my fourth walk and have now come to expect a high standard and I couldn’t have been more impressed. Hazel is a superb guide always interesting, informative and especially engaging. So much information was given and I just loved seeing places that Dickens would have known. Who would have thought that meat hooks would be so interesting but when shown an engraving from the era in Leadenhall market it was if they came to life. I just loved the narrow passageways that have hardly changed over the centuries. The appearance of Scrooge was a nice touch as was the humbug sweet! When walks are linked to a novel as this was you really want to go back and read the book. I can’t recommend Hazel’s walks enough and will certainly go on many more. I Armstrong

A wonderful evening spent in the company of Hazel who is very knowledgeable and upbeat. My partner really enjoyed seeing parts of the area he didn't know existed and the appearance of Scrooge and the humbugs were wonderful unexpected delights as was the Christmas music being played in Leadenhall Market. Entertaining and interesting tour given by a very congenial guide. She kept us amused and informed without being too heavy handed about things. We had an added bonus of an outdoor Christmas concert in Leadenhall Market given by a Classical Quarter entertaining the drinkers and diners there. P Mitchell Dec 2019

Lots of nice touches on this walk - humbugs and an appearance from Scrooge. Hazel conjured up the days of Charles Dickens and took me to all sorts of places in London that I’d never been to. M. Morse Dec 2018

We went on this 1.5 hour walk as part of our work department Christmas outing. Hazel was a fun and engaging tour guide, and took us around several places linked to Dickens (all within the City of London). Although I lived in East London for three years, most of the locations were completely new to me and the facts were fascinating. The link in to Christmas made this a perfect tour for this time of year. Would highly recommend as a team/group activity! Dress warmly though if it's in the winter. Thanks Hazel! Isabella

Hazel was a fantastic tour guide - she was extremely knowledgeable and full of enthusiasm! She clearly
loves London and we all learnt a lot! Sarah C

We went on a Charles Dickens tour as a Christmas team treat and Hazel was an excellent guide and
she made the experience really enjoyable! She was quite knowledgeable about the historical
background of the era and answered all our questions. Eva

Hazel's presentation and research is excellent. We met Scrooge! Anon, Dec 2016

We did two of Hazel’s Christmas Walks in December 2016. The first was a brilliant Christmas Lights Walk which took us around Soho, Covent Garden & other notable West End locations and arcades and was simply stunning! Hazel told us the history of various locations and took us through a few interesting hidden back streets and alleyways around Soho that really enhanced the London Christmas experience. A totally fantastic way to spend a couple of hours on a crisp December Yuletide evening! Definitely a walk not to miss!

The second walk, a week later, was Hazel’s fascinating exploration of Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol taking in the East End financial district of London. Again lots of hidden locations, alleyways and recognisable Dickens landmarks with the highlight being the amazing Leadenhall Market, which was truly magical! Lots of Christmas Carol references and social historical observations that really (given a little imagination) took you back to Victorian London. It was brilliant just to lose one’s self for a couple of hours in the world of Charles Dickens… The walk came complete with a Humbug, but definitely not a ‘Bah! Humbug!’

Thank you Hazel, we had an absolutely brilliant time on both your walks and we shall be checking out your other walks planned for 2017 (with reviews to follow).
