Flash Briefing
What: Redefining Living Series: Personal Growth for Women's Leadership When: Thursday, 12 November 2020, 20:00 - 21:00 GMT Where: Online event With so many talented and qualified women to fill leadership positions, why do we find that women are still having trouble gaining ground? This challenge seems to be common amongst BAME women. Redefining Living Series takes a holistic approach by exploring how the insidious and subtle religious, cultural, and societal beliefs can influence a woman’s readiness and willingness to lead in the marketplace. In these series we will explore and discuss the following and many more: - What racism is and why it is not the culprit? - How to integrate your faith into your professional and personal lives - How to be a woman of faith without being religious - Aligning scriptural principles with business strategy  - How to make your work feel like a vocation—a true calling on your life - Why our current social systems have not been set up to prepare us to live a life of purpose. - What submission looks like for a driven, accomplished woman married to a laid-back husband Sessions are open to existing or aspiring female leaders who are looking for a significant personal growth opportunity.  Cost: The series are free to attend from the comfort of your home. What: HENRI MATISSE ONLINE: Painting with Scissors
When: Saturday, 14 November 2020, 14:00 - 15:00 GMT Where: Online event "What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter - a soothing, calming influence on the mind, rather like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue." - Henri Matisse This is one of two online drawing classes where tutor Frances Stanfield will guide you through Matisse's playful approach to art making. This second session adopts Matisse's use of scissors as an image making tool and the first is Drawing with Sticks. (You don't have to attend both!) Drawing with Sticks is now available on our website Matisse is best known for both his delightfully fluid drawing style and exquisite use of colour, particularly in his simplistic cut out works. In both sessions you will be engaged in mimicking Matisse’s expressive and restlessly experimental way of working to inspire you in your own creative endeavours. In this class we will be making our cut outs from a series of images which Frances will be presenting to you and from still life. This class is suitable for ALL LEVELS. You will need: - Some Scissors! - Paper - you can use colour paper or you can paint/colour in paper prior to the class - Matisse painted his paper with Gouache if you want to really get your Matisse game on! - A collection of organic matter such as leaves and flowers - Optional, but handy - pins and a piece of cardboard as big as your paper - AND/OR Bluetak, Masking Tape/Sticky Tape WE HAVE SET UP AN EMAIL WITH THE ZOOM LINK TO ARRIVE IN YOUR INBOX 1 DAY BEFORE AND AGAIN 3 TIMES BEFORE WE START.
