Halfway through December and the days are short and the nights are long. Perfect! For photography in London, we now get the best of both worlds, the light and the dark, without staying up really late!
Our smartphone photo walk along Southbank the other day showed what a great time if year this really is. Starting the tour at 3pm, we got some lovely photos of the area and the river and bridges. Then, as we stood photographing the view across the Thames towards St Paul's Cathedral, the darkness started to fall. The lights from the million windows in the buildings started to twinkle and the scene changed completely. Two views for the price of one.
A daylight stroll that becomes a nighttime walk (ok, maybe not nighttime as it was only 430pm but it had that wonderful look and feel).
Then it started to lightly rain. Time to rush inside? What?! And miss photographing those gorgeous reflections in the puddles?
December really is a great time of the year for photography. It's pretty good for giving and receiving presents too! So wishing you all a very happy Christmas and looking forward to meeting more of you for a photo walk through this great city very soon.
